10 injured, 3 regulation enforcement officers hurt after gunfire erupts in Charleston, S.C.

Ten people had been injured, 4 critically, and three regulation enforcement officers have been hurt Monday night after gunfire erupted in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, in response to police.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are still working the scene.

Two folks had been arrested stemming from the assaults on the deputies, police said.

These suspects were identified as Ayesha McGee and Tahira McGee, NBC affiliate of WCBD of Charleston reported, citing stories from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Workplace. 

Ayesha McGee was charged with third-degree assault and battery and Tahira McGee with second-degree assault and battery and resisting arrest. 

Officers said extra arrests are expected.

Officers said South Street from Nassau Road to Drake Street and America Avenue from Reid Road to Mary Street within the space will remain closed to process the shooting scene.

The mayor condemned gun violence within the city and across the nation, a nod to the Buffalo, New York, supermarket taking pictures and the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.

“I don’t find out about you however I’m mad about it. I’m fed up,” Tecklenburg mentioned. “Enough is enough."

Tecklenburg announced an 8-point plan to address gun violence that features graduated penalties for gun crimes, promoting safer firearm use, and shutting down events with out proper permits.
