Comic Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage Tuesday evening as he performed at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl arena, with movies from viewers members' cellphones shortly flooding social media and exhibiting a man appear to run onto the stage and deal with the comedian.

Chappelle, whose unapologetic humor has made him a lightning rod for criticism, appeared unscathed by the sudden interruption and later joked (Notice: Linked video contains harsh language together with profanity) with fellow comic and actor Jamie Foxx onstage that he'd taken revenge on his attacker.

Videos posted to Twitter appeared to indicate the person who charged Chappelle being detained outdoors the venue by police after which loaded into an ambulance with visible accidents.

Witnesses mentioned — and videos appeared to point out — that the man was set upon by a number of individuals onstage immediately after he attacked Chappelle.

Whereas the whole debacle was captured in multiple movies shot by members of the audience, cell phone use was officially banned in the course of the efficiency.  

The motivation for the initial assault remained unclear, and there was no immediate response from the Los Angeles Police Department to CBS Information' request for information about the incident.
