He added the transfer also makes Palestinians feel “extra dissatisfied and hopeless” towards the Biden administration.

Israel authorised the development of 3,000 settler homes in October despite one other US rebuke. Authorities have, nevertheless, paused some especially controversial tasks in the wake of strong US opposition.

Israeli settlement enlargement in the West Financial institution and East Jerusalem has continued below every Israeli authorities since Israel captured the territories in the 1967 Middle East warfare.

Nevertheless, building accelerated in the previous couple of years under former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with a big growth throughout Trump’s US administration, which Palestinians accused of having a powerful pro-Israel bias.

Settler attacks in opposition to Palestinians and their property are a regular prevalence in the West Bank, house to nearly three million Palestinians.

The Palestinian management needs the West Bank as a part of a future state and views the unlawful settlements as a major obstacle to any potential deal.

Earlier this year, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch said Israel is committing the crime of apartheid towards Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories (OPT).

Since its establishment in 1948, Israel has pursued a policy of establishing and maintaining a “Jewish demographic majority”, Amnesty said. Israel also exercises full control over land and sources to profit Jewish Israelis, including these in illegal settlements.
