A California district legal professional declined to file charges Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police studies and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Office concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our determination is that we are going to not file any fees against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement businesses "for their careful, diligent, and professional work."
