New government maps show almost all of the West is in drought and it is not even summer season yet: “That is unprecedented”

In an unprecedented transfer, Southern California officials declared a water scarcity emergency and requested roughly 6 million residents to restrict all out of doors watering to simply once every week.
"We knew climate change would stress our water supplies and we've been getting ready for it however we didn't know it will happen this quick," said Gloria Grey, chairwoman of the Metropolitan Water District Board of Directors.
The most recent government maps present practically all of the West is in drought, and 95% of California is suffering extreme or excessive drought.
"This is real. This is severe. That is unprecedented," said Adel Hagekhalil, general manager for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Lake Mead, the biggest reservoir within the nation formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, wants a brand new pump to ensure water can movement to Las Vegas.
"The issue with local weather change is that it takes all the historical patterns and kind of shifts them," NASA scientist Dr. JT Reager instructed CBS Information' Ben Tracy.
Reager mentioned the West is in a 22-year megadrought, as local weather change makes it hotter and drier.
"We're just beginning to see the dominoes fall. It's drier, we're starting to see much less water in our reservoirs, and we've got fires, and in California, there's just this collection of consequences that we anticipate," mentioned Reager.
