A California district lawyer declined to file charges Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane while waiting at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in a statement.

"Our resolution is that we are going to not file any expenses against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the victim main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file charges by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement companies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
